Prof. Jeff Dunn AO, an esteemed leader in cancer control and research, currently serves as the Chief of Mission and Head of Research at the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. He holds a prestigious position as Professor of Social and Behavioural Science and Chair of Cancer Survivorship at the University of Southern Queensland.Prof. Jeff Dunn AO, significant contributions to cancer control, emphasising the social and behavioural aspects, span over 30 years and include over 200 publications. His leadership extends to being a Board Member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service.Recognised for his service, Prof. Jeff Dunn AO, was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) in 2014. His Excellency served as Assistant Medical Director and Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Public Health, Vice Chairman of the National Health Authority, and Chairman of the Permanent Licensing Committee for Healthcare Practitioners in Qatar.

Dr. Rabi Abeyasinghe currently serves as the WHO Representative and Head of the WHO Country Office for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, since January 22, 2022. In this role, he spearheads strategic and policy dialogues with health ministries and partners. Dr. Ros Suzanna A Bustamam is a clinical oncologist by training. She has been serving as the Head of the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at Hospital Kuala Lumpur since 2016. Concurrently she has been appointed by the Director General of Health Malaysia as the Head of Oncology Specialty, Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH). Her main responsibility is to lead the direction of radiotherapy and oncology services under MOH which include distribution and infrastructure planning, human resource, capacity building and training. Since 2016, she has been instrumental in the National Strategic Plan for Cancer Control Program. This program addresses cancer prevention and control from a holistic viewpoint that spans across primary prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. In addition, she possesses special interest in epigenetic studies for breast and gastric cancers and co-authored multiple journal publications that cover various aspects of cancer, including epidemiological and psychosocial. Beyond working hours, she enjoys reaching out to the public, especially in breast cancer awareness campaigns.

Prof Darius Francescatti

Darius is a general surgeon in Chicago, Illinois, specializing in breast oncology for over 20 years. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. His professional focus is on advancing technologies to improve surgical outcomes for breast cancer patients. He has been an early adopter of breast ultrasound, ductal lavage, ductoscopy, cryo and laser ablation of breast tumors, accelerated partial breast irradiation, intraoperative radiotherapy, and genomic molecular subtyping using Agendia’s Mammaprint.
Darius was employed by Mammaprint to assist with their US trials and recently developed a risk assessment tool based on breast thermography. Currently, his interests include intraoperative breast specimen analysis using advanced methodologies. His extensive background in education includes speaking and teaching at national and international conferences and educational venues sponsored by industry and medical societies.
His industry-related responsibilities have involved developing intellectual property, patent acquisition, creating educational materials for employees and customers, developing marketing materials, initiating white papers, and serving as an ombudsman for regulatory issues, bridging the clinical and commercial sectors. Darius’s comprehensive approach to breast cancer treatment incorporates all relevant technologies to better serve patients. He is also the author of “Breast Cancer – A New Era of Management.”

Dr. Feisul Mustapha is a senior medical consultant in public health best known for his leadership in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Malaysia. His special areas of interest include diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers and obesity. At the Ministry of Health Malaysia, he is currently the Director at the Perak State Health Department, responsible for the overall planning, coordination and implementation of all medical and public health programs and activities in the state of Perak.
He combines his high-level experiences in the government with active engagement of civil society and multilateral institutions. Dr Feisul is currently Chair of the Scientific Advisory Group for the Monash University South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO). In addition, he is a Board Member for the International Advisory Board of the United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), and a Member of the Policy Advisory Group of the World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRF). He was previously a Member of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on the Prevention and Control of NCDs (STAG-NCD) for WHO Geneva.
In addition, Dr Feisul has special interest in leveraging on technology in catalysing behavioural modification to reduce the exposure to NCD risk factors.

Dr Hadi is the Scientific Advisor and the Head of the Professional Development and Scientific Research Department and the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS). Dr Hadi is the representative member of the QCS in the National Cancer Governance Board in Qatar, the Gulf Federation for Cancer Control, the Union International for Cancer Control, the World Cancer Day Advisory Group, the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and the All.Can International. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Health Sciences at The University of Doha for Science and Technology, preceptor at the Department of Public Health – College of Health Sciences – Qatar University, Psychology and Social Work Master’s Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and Hamad Medical Corporation community medicine residency program.
Dr Hadi graduated from the University of Aleppo – Faculty of Medicine in Syria and completed his post-graduate training at the University of Iowa in the USA. Dr Hadi presented at more than 100 medical conferences and was involved as a Co-PI in research projects that have earnt grants of around half a million dollars in the USA and Qatar. Dr Hadi’s research interests are pediatric diseases, cancer burden, cancer education and awareness, continuing medical education, Knowledge Attitudes Perception studies related to cancer, quality of life of people living with cancer, health literacy, cancer survival studies, equity in cancer care, narrative medicine and cancer, palliative care, the role of civil societies in cancer control, social media and cancer awareness, and efficiency and efficacy in cancer control and public health.

Dr Noor Azura Noor Mohamad

Dr Noor Azura Noor Mohamad graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Republic of Ireland in 2008. She gathered her clinical experience in Republic of Ireland until she obtained her membership from Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2016. Subsequently, Dr Noor Azura Noor Mohamad returned to Malaysia to join Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2018.
Recently completed gynaecologic oncology subspecialty training under Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia in December 2023, she was also awarded with Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology Surgery by Yonsei University College of Medicine, South Korea in the same year.
Dr Noor Azura Noor Mohamad holds a position as senior lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in UiTM, and currently practices as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, and gynaecologic oncologist in Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah.

Dr. Mengmeng Li serves as an associate professor within the Department of Cancer Prevention at the Sun Yat-sen University Center (SYSUCC). Prior to her appointment at SYSUCC through the “100 Top Talents Program” in 2020, she held a position as a postdoctoral scientist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO).
As a cancer epidemiologist, Dr. Li is deeply committed to conducting research aimed at preventing cancer. Her ongoing projects primarily investigate the overdiagnosis of thyroid cancer, the influence of environmental factors such as air pollution on health, and the causes and screening methods for nasopharyngeal cancer.

Dr Victor Hoe is a Professor of Occupational and Public Health. He heads the Academic Section in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in the University of Malaya and the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Unit in University Malaya Medical Centre. He started his career as an academic in 2004 when he joins the Department. His passion is in the use of technology to enhance and simplify work. He has been experimenting in various forms of online teaching and assessment since 2012. During the COVID-19 pandemic he was part of the team that transform the 8-weeks Community Posting programme for the undergraduate medical programme from a field posting to an online posting. The core of the programme of appreciating the diversity of medicine and public health was maintain through innovative approaches.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational Health and Safety from Monash University in Melbourne Australia. He also has the Master of Public Health, Master of Public Health (Occupational Health) and Master of Engineering (Safety, Health and Environment) from the University of Malaya, and the Master of Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Turin and the International Labour Organization (ILO) – International Training Centre in Turin, Italy. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia and Fellow of the Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia. He was the recipient of the first of the two International Commission for Occupational Health (ICOH) and ILO Master Fellowship.

Assoc Prof Dr Ho Weang Kee

Associate Professor Dr Ho Weang Kee, a Malaysian statistician and Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, focuses on statistical methods in genetic data analysis. Her pioneering work earned her the 2018 L’Oréal-UNESCO International Rising Talent Award for developing predictive models for breast cancer risk in Southeast Asian women. Ho’s academic journey began at Northumbria University, where she graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics in 2005 before pursuing a Ph.D. in Mathematics at Newcastle University.
Under the mentorship of biostatistician Robin Henderson, she explored statistical applications in scientific inquiries, culminating in her 2009 Ph.D. completion. Ho’s postdoctoral research spans diverse fields, including child speech and development studies at the National Institute for Health Research and medical and genetic statistics at the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Isabelle Soerjomataram, an accomplished medical epidemiologist, focuses on the aetiology, prevention, and outcomes of cancer. After earning her medical degree in Indonesia, she advanced her expertise with a Master’s and PhD in the Netherlands.
Currently at IARC, her work centres on analysing the international variation in cancer burden and survival, using population-based datasets to understand how policy interventions can address the rising cancer burden. She leads and coordinates major projects, including global estimations of cancer’s attributable fractions to various risk factors like alcohol, tobacco, and obesity.
Notably, Dr. Isabelle co-chairs a comprehensive review assessing COVID-19’s impact on behaviours influencing future cancer burdens. Her leadership extends to pivotal cancer survival studies in both affluent and developing regions, evaluating health system effectiveness and the implications of disruptions like COVID-19 on cancer outcomes.

Professor Dr Hamid Jan Bin Jan Mohamed, a distinguished professor at the Nutrition Programme of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), has made significant contributions to nutrition science since joining USM in 2007, after completing his PhD at King’s College London. He pioneered the first Malaysian birth cohort study in 2009, the USM Pregnancy Cohort Study, which investigates the connections between maternal nutrition and the development of obesity and diabetes in offspring. His research also addresses the prevention of stunting in children and includes studies on breast and colon cancer.

Dr Zdenko Herceg has an international reputation as the leader in the application of epigenetic/epigenomic analyses to mechanistic and profiling studies of tumorigenesis and discovery of biomarkers of environmental exposures and cancer risk. He is currently Head of Branch of Epigenomics and Mechanisms at International Agency for Research on Cancer (Lyon, France). Prior to joining IARC, he was a post-doctoral scientist at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna, Austria. At IARC, Dr Herceg has developed and co-ordinated a number of multidisciplinary projects involving epigenomics and mechanistic studies involving international population-based studies. These include trend-setting initiatives for international interdisciplinary collaborations. These studies lead to conceptual breakthroughs and major advances in understanding molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis and to discovery of powerful molecular biomarkers relevant to cancer causation and prevention. Dr Herceg authored more than 250 original peer-reviewed research publications (among which over 200 PubMed entries) in the field of epigenetics and cancer research.

She is a pioneer in genetics diagnostics in Malaysia. She first started the molecular genetics lab service in MOH in 2008 with HKL molecular genetics lab being the one and only lab in the public service offering molecular genetics and cancer genetic testing in Ministry of Health Malaysia then. She helped started the cytogenetics lab service in Prince Court Medical Center which now had all been integrated into one lab & Premier Integrated Labs (PIL) at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. In addition, she helped started the cytogenetics lab in UMMC as well.

Mrs. Bawani Selvam has a total of seven years of experience in the planning and management of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology, haematology, autoimmune diseases, and gastroenterology. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of critical functions, such as feasibility assessment, study start-up, site selection, site initiation, site monitoring, and site close-out processes. She is also proficient in data collection, trial documentation, and budget oversight. Currently serving as the Clinical Trials Manager at Cancer Research Malaysia, Mrs. Bawani Selvam oversees all oncology trials, providing pivotal leadership and support to clinical research associates. She plays a key role in expanding the Clinical Trial Unit’s portfolio by collaborating with diverse stakeholders to identify and address unmet needs in cancer research and treatment. This collaborative approach has successfully initiated three investigator-led clinical trials aimed at improving patient outcomes. In 2022, she was one of the top six oral presenters at ASCOMOS, where she shared impactful findings from an Investigator-Initiated trial.

Dr Nurul Nadia binti Jamaluddin is a highly accomplished breast and endocrine surgeon with extensive experience in surgical management and specialized training in recurrent laryngeal nerve reconstruction and primary anastomosis. Dr Cheong is currently a Visiting Fellow at the United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health, a Visiting Scholar at the Maybank ASEAN Research Center at the Asia School of Business, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH, UK). He is also a member of the National Palliative Care Services Development Committee, Ministry of Health Malaysia.

With a medical degree and various postgraduate qualifications from the University of Malaya, she has conducted extensive research, notably on advanced breast cancer presentation. Prof. Nur Aishah has made significant contributions to medical literature, with 234 peer-reviewed publications and a H-index of 36, focusing on patient care and outcomes.
As a prominent figure in surgical education, she trains Master of Surgery candidates in Malaysia and serves as an examiner for subspecialty exams. Additionally, she has supervised numerous postgraduate students in research and clinical settings. In 2011, Ms. Ho transitioned to a lecturing position at a private nursing school, where she fervently shared her knowledge and expertise in Nursing and Oncology Skills. Advancing steadily, she assumed the Head of Nursing School role by 2018.
Driven by a commitment to continuous improvement, Ms. Ho pursued further academic qualifications to enhance her professional capabilities. Dr Zulhilmi is a severe hemophilia B patient who experienced limited medical care in his childhood. Despite the challenges, he has emerged as an advocate for comprehensive hemophilia healthcare access and support groups. His journey began with the receipt of the prestigious international fellowship from the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) in 2014, which recognized his exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to advancing hemophilia care and advocacy on a global scale. This fellowship propelled him to co-found the ASEAN Hemophilia Network (AHN). Through AHN, Dr Zulhilmi has spearheaded patient empowerment initiatives, strategic management programs, and advocacy for prophylactic treatment in countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Myanmar. In addition to his pivotal role in AHN, Dr Zulhilmi actively collaborated with relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful adoption of comprehensive hemophilia treatment in Sabah, Malaysia. His expertise in international advocacy strategy has led to his appointment as an advisor and member of various task forces across several ministries

Dr Jue Sheng Ong is a statistical geneticist and Malaysian diasporic scientist at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane, Australia. His expertise lies in designing and performing genetic analysis workflow on extensive datasets and biobanks. Ong earned his Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Master of Mathematical Sciences from the Australian National University and completed his PhD in Statistical Genetics at the University of Queensland.
As a disease-agnostic researcher, Ong has collaborated with numerous global consortia, contributing to significant genetic discoveries across a wide range of human conditions (incl. cancers). His commitment to making genomic medicine accessible is bolstered by a prestigious 5-year Investigator Fellowship from the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), aimed at understanding the genetic basis of age-related diseases in under-represented populations. Ong has spearheaded collaborative programs and conceptual frameworks to build capacity for genetic research targeting diverse populations in Australia and internationally, including the establishment of the QIMR Genetics of Diverse Ancestry program. His recent work addresses key issues in genomics and precision medicine, such as the feasibility of genetic studies in resource-constrained settings, the translation of genomics for patient stratification, promoting research participation among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, ensuring equitable data practices, and highlighting the role of diasporic scientists in bridging research communities.

Dr Murallitharan Munisamy is a Public Health Physician from Malaysia. He trained as a Medical Officer in the Russian Federation under a Malaysian government scholarship and completed a Master’s in Community Health Sciences at the National University of Malaysia. He earned a PhD in Public Health from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, under the ASEAN Economic Community program. In 2015, he received the Chevening Scholarship from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, completing a term as a Fellow in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Before his medical career, Dr Murallitharan was an award-winning journalist for the New Straits Times, a leading English newspaper in Malaysia. In medicine, he has served in various roles, including medical officer and clinician at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and the National Blood Bank, clinical epidemiologist for the Clinical Research Centre, Ministry of Health, Malaysia, and Medical Director of MMPKV Healthcare Sdn Bhd. He is deeply involved with healthcare services for marginalized and underprivileged groups, working with organizations like the Tzu Chi Foundation, Sathya Sai Baba Organisation of Malaysia, Divine Life Society of Malaysia, Assunta Hospital, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Dr Murallitharan’s interests lie in public health, health systems, and health economics. He collaborates with Chulalongkorn University, the University of Tokyo, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the London School of Economics. He is currently the Medical Director of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia
